Orthodox Lament Georgia Election

Fr. Scott Benhase has been elected bishop in Georgia. This quote comes from The Rev’d Gavin G.  Dunbar, Rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Savannah:

Scott Benhase. Not a hair out of place or a laugh-line flubbed in his smoothly polished presentation. Would introduce same-sex blessings only when authorized, and only where priest and vestry consent. Supports the Anglican Covenant, although without explanation of how this can be combined with the previous policy. If Georgia wants to elect a company man, this is the candidate. A bit too bland?

This “bland” priest, who is currently Rector of St. Alban’s in Washington, D.C., is reported to currently practice same-sex blessings and communion of the unbaptized.  See Sarah Hey’s post on Stand Firm for more details.
